This is Fate

I received this email from Darlene Christianson of Collingwood. This is truly a story of love and fate....and how fate works in very mysterious ways.

Don't you ever wonder how, or why you end up with people in your life? This is a story for you!

.......Tom retired from the US military a LTC and was working for Tommy Thompson( governor of wisconsin) in Madison Wisconsin. I was working in Bobcaygeon at Confederation log homes managing the office and selling homes.Tom has purchased some land in northern Wisconsin and was looking to build a log home. He did a search online and found over 500 companies however our company stood out ( believe it or not) Tom, being the historian was drawn in by the title of our company- 1867 Confederation Log Homes ( history oriented)

He emailed into our company and orderd a catalogue. I just happen to get the lead, I sent out the catalogue and followed up a week later. We talked about plans, budgets, etc, etc. He told me he was looking at this point and to follow up in a few weeks, I did and then followed up again and again.. nothing happened ( we were always professional on the phone). I have to say I did think this myself this American is never going to buy, in the states there are log home dealerships on every corner up north..... the next time I spoke with him I basically thought I will invite him up to big Bobcaygeon this will either get him off the fence or over the fence closer to buying.. ....... so that is just what I did, however he is a doer and right away asked me " how about next wednesday?" He surprized me I thought for sure he was going to cop out but he did not and showed up a week later at my office.

We toured the factory and other homes in the area, giving him a better idea on what our company could provide for him. At the end of our day- he noticed I was not wearing a ring and asked if I was married- I had been separated for two years and going through a divorce. Tom being the smooth talker that he is.. asked me for dinner. I have to say I usually do not mix business with pleasure but because he had come so far thought what would it hurt, we will talk more about his plans for his log home.

We ended up going for dinner in Peterborough, I met him at the restaurant, we sat down and began talking and I have to say the night flew by- I had never met a man like this before. Tom shared with me his stories, his adventures in life, his kids, he was captivating!

Tom went back to Wisconsin and we chatted on the phone many times about his house plans and about us.. He wanted to see me again badly- the next few months involved many flights to and from Canada which included wining and dining, he literally swept me off my feet! We fell in love! We dated for a year before we moved into OUR log home in Collingwood Ontario which we built together.

Tom finding me and me finding him was like finding a needle in a haystack- he was from a state I had never been to, living a totally different life then me. I was living in small town selling log homes- fate brought us together!

Tom proposed after a day of hiking up on the mountain at blue in 2001- he packed a romantic picnic of goodies and wine, it was october 1st, the leaves were changing, we looked out over georgian bay, he pulled out a long list of all the things he loved about me... he is a sweetie- We were married in Dominican 2002- We just celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary last november and love each other more than ever! I feell so lucky to have him in my life- he came into my life when i really needed him- he is a wonderful friend to me, a special friend also to my kids and an overal extraordinary person!

( ps our love story was featured in the log home magazine in 2001- the title was " log amongst the logs" - funny)

Now you know

Show Me Your Love

It's snowing here....AGAIN! It hasn't stopped for nearly a week. Quite frankly I'm sick of it. Sick of being cold and wet, of brushing snow off my car, wearing coats and boots. Sick, sick, sick.

So, I'm asking you bring some happier thoughts into my life. Make me feel all warm and fuzzy and forget about this winter that won't go away.

I'm holding a contest. I want to know your love story. Tell me how you met, how you fell in love, anything that you overcame. Show me your love! You can also nominate someone else too. If you feel they have the best love story, write me!

Send your stories to my email address: aprylmunro@hotmail.com.

The best story will win a free photoshoot with me and we'll show off your love in photos!

You have until March 22nd to get your entries in!

Here's a picture of Lindsay and Shane who have the most incredible love story. Shane was in love with Lindsay for years before they began dating. He chased her, called her constantly....and even used fake names to throw her parents off. He always told her she was the one for him. Finally, I think it was 8 years later she took him up on his offer of a date. He followed her to New Zealand, she followed him to Calgary and just last summer they got married. It's a beautiful story. And it was a beautiful wedding.

Big, Exciting News.

My real job is at a tv station where I'm a videographer. But today I got to be "Photographer" and take pictures of our anchor George Bryson. The Big, exciting news is that these photos are being used for an ad that will be in the local paper this week!

The finished product will be completely different, with Rogers TV logos and stuff, but until I get a copy of the ad, I thought I would share a few of the shots with you.

My Station Manager had a very specific look she wanted for George, so I hope I captured her vision. She wanted him to look serious and authoritative with his arms crossed. It is news, we're serious.

In reality, George is never this serious. He's a lot of fun and full of laughs.

Brides and Horses....the photos

I finished editing the photos from Valentine's Day....and I'm happy with them!

I think Megan and Alexis looked absolutely beautiful in their wedding gowns and they were so amazing about their gowns getting dirty too!

As for my flash and I. We're still not speaking. It really let me down at this shoot.....but I'm grounding it for a week and I'm hoping it will learn it's lesson.

Enjoy the fun photos!

Brides and Horses Teaser

On Valentine's Day I had the dream shoot. My friends at Studio Shiik wanted a bridal look....so we took two beautiful girls down on the farm to roll in the hay and play with the horses.

The dream shoot couldn't go off without a hitch, now could it? The problem: my equipment. It could have been the cold, could have been anything, but my flash would only fire a third of the time....I almost threw it in the manure pile!

Despite my issues, we came out with some pretty amazing shots of both the girls and the horses.

Here's a shot that is one of my favourites from the shoot....and I'll post a whole lot more later!

This was Alexis' first time EVER on a horse. I think she rocked it!

Best Kisses

It's nearly Valentine's Day and I'm caught up in the spirit of the Hallmark Holiday.

I've always been one for Valentine's Day. Every year Tobin and I make each other a big seafood feast with candles and wine (well, beer for him) and it's really romantic. This year, though I can't stomach the thought of seafood....a very bad side effect of pregnancy. But I still love chocolate, cuddling with Tobin and lots of I love you's. Alright, you can be sick from all that mushy stuff....what can I say? I'm sucker for love.

So, as my little gift you on Valentine's Day, here are some of my favourite kisses from the past year. Enjoy!

Amanda and Horhay on the tracks. Love this photo.

Bob and Cheryl Taylor. The cutest couple!

Kim and Jamie on their wedding day

And Us! Had to throw it in there because he is my all-time favourite kiss.

Rain in January

It was probably the strangest of situations. Two strangers...one in her underwear, and one with a camera. But it was all for a good cause.

Rain emailed me a few weeks ago and wanted to take advantage of the promotion I have for Valentines. The goal: to take some racy, sexy photos .

Rain has the best sense of humour, the coolest pink highlights.....and seriously the best legs I've ever seen (I'm only 5 feet tall.....I envy women with legs). We had a blast and moved from being strangers in a different position to being friends.

I had Rain straddling a chair, rolling around on the ground while Amanda, our amazing stylist held a fan a few feet away from her. The results were nothing but HOT! Seriously, Rain's husband is going to go gaga over his wife in these shots.

I can't show you all of them, but here are a few of my faves from the session. Don't forget, you can still take advantage of the promo!
